Trong Tran
Staff Process Engineer
ConocoPhillips [email protected] Trong was my technical mentor when I was working full-time at ConocoPhillips in the Discipline Engineering group. We worked closely for approximately 10 months. He was in charge overseeing most of my projects - his approval was needed to send my work to our supervisor. Our first assignment involved creating a proposal for a sampling system for a sour stream in a gas plant. The rest of our work primarily involved sizing PSVs, creating a PSV sizing workbook for all API over pressure scenarios, and providing VBA support for the workbook. My time with Trong taught me how to think about problems, interpret standards, and present technical information effectively. |
Jose Lazaro
Senior Instrument & Controls Engineer
ConocoPhillips [email protected] Jose was also part of the Discipline Engineering group during my time at COP. He assisted Business Units with Control and Instrumentation Systems. One of my favorite courses during college was Process Dynamics and Control. Therefore, I asked Jose if he would like to add me to some of his projects so I could become more familiar with this subject. I reviewed and approved several of Jose's tasks, including Control Narratives, Instrument Registers and Scope of Work documents. Although my time working with Jose was brief (3 months), I was able to learn more about Control System such as: terminology, applications, functionality, different technologies, etc. |
Pete Spicer
Senior Environmental Scientist
ConocoPhillips [email protected] Pete was mentor during my internship as an Environmental Engineer in the summer of 2014. Under his guidance, I created an Environmental Remediation Tool-Box to standardize documentation of remedial actions for onshore spills. We also spent time traveling to visit assets on Eagle Ford, and to participate in the South Texas Energy & Economic Round Table and Water Sustainability Committee meetings. Working with Mr. Spicer allowed to understand the role that Oil & Gas companies play in the protection of the environment and the importance of being proactive and engaged to ensure the protection of water, soil, vegetation, fauna, and the public. |
Cindy Raisor
Lecturer and Director of the Bush School Writing Program
Texas A&M University [email protected] Mrs. Raisor was my Technical Writing professor but also a friend and adviser. She is one of the few, if not only, professors I still keep in touch. I truly appreciate the skills she has taught me. Her passion for the subject has made me the effective communicator and presenter I am today. These skills have impacted the success I have had in college, leadership positions, internships, and my full time job. |
John Baldwin
Senior Lecturer
Texas A&M University [email protected] Dr. Baldwin has been my professor for three semesters: Fluid Operations, Thermodynamics and Plant Design. For all classes, homework and projects were assigned in groups. His style of teaching allowed me to experience with different types of people. This taught me how to deal with various learning styles. I earned an A for each of these classes. |
Peter Sallay
Statistics Professor
Nimitz High School [email protected] Mr. Sallay was my Statistics AP professor when I was a senior in high school. He got to know me pretty well since I usually stayed after school to practice for the AP exam. Mr. Sallay encouraged me try my hardest. His effort helped me learned so much about my learning style and my interests in academia. After his dedication and my hard work, I obtained a 5 of the AP test. |
