Overview
Howdy and Welcome to my E-folio!
My name is Alejandra Europa Casanueva, but I like to be called Allie. I graduated from Texas A&M University on December of 2014 with a Chemical Engineering degree, two minors: Chemitry and Spanish, and two certificates: Business Management and Safety Engineering. Currently, I am working for Monument Chemical as an Environmental Engineer. Previously, I worked full-time as a Facilities Engineer and interned as an Environmental Engineer for ConocoPhillips. During college, I also participated in a Co-Op program where I worked as an Associate Consultant for DNL GL for an entire semester.
I have created this E-folio to display some of my accomplishments and to share the experiences that have shaped me into the person and professional I am today. My past work experiences, leadership roles and academic career have helped me develop an outstanding work ethic, great communication skills, a unique leadership potential, and a creative mind. I believe that these qualities give me the skills needed to be a competent candidate. I have also created a prezume that displays the same information as my resume, but in a more fun and dynamic medium. This prezume provides a fast way to learn more about my accomplishments and skills.

Outstanding Work EthicMy key to success is hard work, and it is something I take pride in. I am strong believer that with dedication and passion everything is achievable. I have always been a hard worker, and it has always paid off. No matter how well I understand the subject, I am always eager to learn more. I am seen as an over achiever, but I like to think that every project/event/assignment is an opportunity to show my strong work ethic. I want to demonstrate that I will always give you my best.

Great Communication SkillsCommunication skills are essential to successfully work with others. Engineering is a career that particularly stresses the importance of group collaboration. Therefore, engineers need to have the ability to communicate their thoughts clearly and precisely with others in order to effectively share their ideas and views of a project. If engineers cannot communicate, they might not be able to perform their job adequately. I have developed great communication skills through my previous work experiences, leadership positions, and volunteering roles. Being able to communicate effectively with co-workers, peers, and costumers has been an essential tool to fulfill my responsibilities.

Leadership Potential
Leaders are needed in all aspects of our lives. No matter what the situation is, there is always a leader organizing it. In other words, leaders are essential to accomplish any task. Since high school, I strive to motivate others to pursue their dreams. In my school, only 150 students out of 700 students that graduated attended college to obtain a degree. Many of these students could not pass the TAKS test, or simply did not wish to further their education. During high school, I dedicated some hours after school to help students fill out their college applications, and even tutored some of my peers for the TAKS test. Some of these students ended up passing the TAKS test, and even went to college. As I leader, I like to motivate people to discover their dreams and to try their best to accomplish them. This is something I do on a daily basis at my Crossfit "box." I support and motivate my peers to finish a workout or get a new personal record.

Creative Mind
I think of myself as a very innovative person. My motivation for this comes from my desire to eliminate repetitive work and do things effectively. This way of thinking makes me a unique candidate. The success I have had in the industry and in school has been greatly dependent of my creative mind. Always thinking of ways to improve a process has allowed me to bring new ideas to the table and make positive changes to an organization. The most recent example I have is introducing Microsoft Access as a Database tool for Process Safety Valves. The group was original using Excel, which was not very user friendly. Itt was hard to keep track of equipment with so many columns in place (~30). The Access tool I created made it easy to display all the information in one page and to make queries. Although I received initial resistance to use a new tool, the people at the plant really appreciated the features of the Database I made for them - it facilitated control of documentation of the PSVs.
